About this Event

Thủy Vân Dance Company welcomes you to our first full-scale live production, "Tình Hoài Hương: Echoes of Home", a vibrant performance that showcases the diverse regions of Vietnam. In an effort to bring Vietnam to the stage, no part of the country is left untouched—our dancers will reflect not only the lifestyles and values of North, Central, and South Vietnam, but also those of specific ethnic groups in the Northwest and Central highlands.

Uplifted by the powerful currents of nostalgia, Echoes of Home will guide our dancers' steps as they weave together stories full of regional diversity, historical narratives, and the passion of the Vietnamese community through carefully selected props, costumes, and songs.

About Us:

Thủy Vân Dance Company (TVDC) is a traditional Vietnamese dance group based in Westminster, California. TVDC aims to actively engage with the community, promote the dissemination of Vietnamese culture, and foster a deeper connection to our Vietnamese heritage. We acknowledge the possible dissonance that the Vietnamese diaspora in the United States may feel from their homeland and seek to bridge that distance through dance. By utilizing dance as a medium, we convey stories, ways of life, and the enduring significance of Vietnamese heritage—all to celebrate our culture, expand the knowledge of our people, and educate newer generations about our traditions.

Agenda

ACT 1: Ethnic Groups

Info: Vibrant collection of traditional ethnic dances from Vietnam’s northern and central highlands. Each piece highlights the unique culture, rituals, and daily life of groups such as the Tây Nguyên, H’Mông, Cao Lan, Thái, Dao, Mường, Nùng, and Tày, brought to life through authentic movement and storytelling.

ACT 2: North Vietnam

Info: Celebrates Miền Bắc through a variety of traditional and contemporary dances. From poetic fan and scarf work to spiritual rituals and village life, each piece reflects the grace, cultural richness, and storytelling of Northern Vietnam.

INTERMISSION
ACT 3: Central Vietnam

Info: Highlights the poetic elegance and historic richness of Miền Trung—from the imperial courts of Huế to the cultural legacy of Hội An. Through traditional and contemporary dance forms, these pieces honor spiritual rituals, nostalgic memories, and refined artistry unique to Central Vietnamese life.

ACT 4: South Vietnam

Info: Captures the warmth, humor, and lyrical charm of the South. From the fertile Mekong Delta to the bustling rhythms of modern love, these dances honor the region’s deep-rooted traditions, playful spirit, and heartfelt resilience. Whether through tales of lotus fields, fishing life, or wedding mischief, each piece radiates the unmistakable soul of southern Vietnamese culture.
