Led by South Louisiana native Forest Cazayoux, CAZAYOUX is a genre-blurring collective rooted in rhythm and cultural fusion. After relocating to Austin, Texas in late 2017, he immersed himself in the city’s diverse musical landscape, drawing from his Louisiana roots—Cajun soul, swamp funk, second-line grooves—while absorbing the deep pulse of West African rhythms and modern jazz that flows through Austin’s underground scene.

Formed in 2021, the band quickly earned a reputation for high-energy, improvisation-rich performances. With a multicultural lineup of players from around the world, they channel the funk-forward legacy of The Meters and Dr. John, the percussive genius of Tony Allen and Idris Muhammad.

In just a few years, they’ve shared bills with psychedelic trailblazers Kikagaku Moyo, Latin-funk heavyweights Brownout, and the cosmic circus of Golden Dawn Arkestra. Their live shows—often packed wall-to-wall—have become a staple of Austin’s independent scene, known for delivering deep grooves, global textures, and serious dance floor alchemy.

With a 4th album on the horizon and an ever-expanding live following, CAZAYOUX is poised to bring their borderless musical experience to stages far beyond Texas.
