☂️ Umbrellas of Hope: A Workshop for Providers
“How can we protect ourselves in the midst of life’s uncertainties?”
In response to the question above, as a therapist and filmmaker, I began exploring metaphor as a reflective tool for engagement. One such metaphor, an umbrella, emerged on a wintry day in Chicago, while noticing an elderly woman crossing a busy intersection, holding an umbrella. Upon watching her with the umbrella, it reminded me that, as people, we all need a source of protection to shield us from life’s uncertain conditions. In this way, we hope that the Umbrellas of Hope Workshop can inspire reflection, community engagement, and rekindle hope in our lives.
