Tyler, Texas - The Texas African American Museum proudly announces its annual African American Music Month Celebration, taking place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM, at the museum located inside of the Veretta and Jesse E. Rider Fine and Performing Arts Centre - 309 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Tyler, TX 75702.
This year’s celebration will spotlight the exceptional achievements of Charles Shaw, who will be honored as the 2025 recipient of the Arthur Dooley Wilson African American Music Month Award. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the African American music community and continue to inspire through their artistry and influence.
African American Music Appreciation Month, observed each June, serves as a tribute to the rich cultural legacy and ongoing impact of African American musicians across genres and generations. The Texas African American Museum is honored to celebrate these contributions and uplift voices that shape the musical landscape.
