Join the Military and Veteran Resource Center for our Author Talk with Francis Gary Powers Jr., the son of renowned United States Air Force pilot Francis Gary Powers, who was active in high-level Cold War spy missions. Powers Jr. is the founder and chairman of The Cold War Museum and the co-author of Spy Pilot: Francis Gary Powers, the U-2 Incident, and a Controversial Cold War Legacy (2019), which details the tense situations his father had to navigate for the security of the United States.
Francis Gary Powers Jr. travels nationally and internationally lecturing on Cold War history and his father’s legacy, and has appeared on television channels such as C-SPAN, History Channel, Discovery Channel, and A&E. He was a consultant on Steven Spielberg’s film Bridge of Spies (2015), a thriller that depicted the spy exchange that led to release of Francis Gary Powers Sr.
This event is free and open to the public, and will include a lunch, presentation, and book signing of Spy Pilot with Francis Gary Powers Jr. (lunch and books will be provided to guests while supplies last).
