About this Event

The Skyliners are a Pittsburgh-based doo-wop group best known for their 1959 classic Since I Don’t Have You, a song that became a timeless standard in pop music. Formed in the late 1950s, the original lineup included lead singer Jimmy Beaumont, Janet Vogel, Wally Lester, Joe Verscharen, and Jack Taylor. Their signature sound blended smooth vocal harmonies with lush orchestration, setting them apart from many other doo-wop groups of the era. Following the success of their debut hit, they released other memorable songs like This I Swear and Pennies from Heaven. Though the group underwent several lineup changes over the decades, Beaumont remained the heart and soul of The Skyliners until his passing in 2017. Their influence extended beyond doo-wop, with Since I Don’t Have You being covered by artists such as Guns N’ Roses, Don McLean, and Art Garfunkel. The Skyliners' legacy continues through ongoing performances and a devoted fan base that celebrates their contributions to the golden era of vocal harmony. As one of Pittsburgh’s most iconic musical acts, The Skyliners remain a cherished name in the history of rock and roll and doo-wop music.

The Vogues are a vocal harmony group from Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, known for their smooth blend of doo-wop and pop. They gained national fame in the mid-1960s with hits like You're the One and Five O’Clock World, both of which became timeless classics. Their polished sound and tight harmonies set them apart, earning them a string of hits, including Magic Town and Turn Around, Look at Me. The original lineup featured Bill Burkette, Don Miller, Hugh Geyer, and Chuck Blasko, who helped define the group’s signature style. As the years passed, The Vogues underwent several lineup changes, with multiple versions of the group performing at different times. Despite these changes, their music remained popular, frequently appearing in movies, TV shows, and commercials. Their influence on vocal pop and doo-wop continues to be celebrated by fans and new audiences alike. Today, The Vogues are recognized as one of the most enduring vocal groups of their era, keeping Pittsburgh’s musical legacy alive.
