Birding From Point Edward to Grand Bend Canada

Join Detroit Bird Alliance expert and eagle-eyed leaders Jim Bull and Bruce Szczechowski for an Ontario, Canada car caravan birding adventure from Point Edward to Grand Bend with a possible visit to the beautiful Pinery Provincial Park! The focus of this trip is on water birds and early winter arrivals. In the past, we have seen Long-tailed Ducks, Common and Red-throated Loons, Little Gulls, Western Sandpiper, American Pipit, Evening Grosbeaks, Snow Buntings, Horned Grebes, Western Grebes, Eared Grebes, all three scoters sometimes and Bohemian Waxwings.
Crossing into Canada requires a valid passport. An Enhanced Michigan Driver's license may also allow you entry into Canada, but check with local authorities to confirm.
Note that there is a toll to cross into Canada. Also, if the caravan goes to Pinery Provincial Park there is about a $10 per vehicle admission fee . These fees are not covered by the fee for this field trip.

TRIP DETAILS:
Meet at Tourism Sarnia Lambton (Ontario Travel Information Centre), 1455 Venetian Blvd, Point Edward, ON N7T 7W7 at 8 am. Attendees can consolidate cars at the Travel Info Center but those that do are obligated then to stay the whole day.

This is a car caravan, stopping at multiple locations along the route for birding. The group will take about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk on level trails at two stops on the caravan route. The caravan will stop for lunch at McPherson's restaurant near Pinery Provincial Park. The cost of lunch is not included in this field trip fee.
