Meet the Instructor
Davis Fandiño is the 2024 sculptor-in-residence at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park. He began his artistic studies early in life as an assistant and apprentice in sculpture studios, foundries, and mold-making shops before moving to Los Angeles to work as a sculptor for special-effects studios in the film industry where for over a decade he was involved in the production of major blockbuster movies. During that time he continued to pursue his fine-art studies, spending months between projects working in stone-carving sculpture studios in Carrara, Italy and creating portraits of friends and celebrities alike. He now has a personal studio in Bentonville, Arkansas and is working towards creating a body of work that encompasses all his experiences and studies over the past 20 years.
About the Program
The sculptor-in-residence program at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park continues a tradition of inspiration and education at the former home of acclaimed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848-1907). Since in 1969, a sculptor-in-residence working in the figurative tradition has created art on site and interacted with visitors through workshops and open studio hours. This program is administered in partnership between the National Park Service and Saint-Gaudens Memorial, a nonprofit and park partner promoting awareness of Saint-Gaudens, the lasting legacy of his work, and the creative arts both past and present.
