Two Session Class
Part 1: Monday March 9 from 5:30-8 p.m.
Part 2: Monday March 16 from 5:30-8 p.m.
Class Description: Exploratory Watercolor Painting + Multi-Media Design application will offer artists of all ability levels, the opportunity to learn through playful experimentation.
This course will include exposure to a variety of watercolor approaches & techniques to be used as a vehicle for creative self-expression. Supplies and tools will be made available to all participants. However, personal art supplies such as colored pencils, collage materials- magazines, photos, photocopied images, special papers fabric scraps, or ribbon may be fun to bring for individual use in class; to personalize final works.
Guided Lessons will include: Meditation Watercolor Painting (paint + water = abstract design + calm), Color Theory (color mixing), Mark Making with brushes, markers & ink pen, and Watercolor Textural Techniques. Watercolor Mixed Media Applications include: layering of colors, resist, art from torn, cut and woven paper.
All materials are provided.
Class will be held in the Stage Room.

About the Instructor: Gretchen A. Goldsmith is a local Moab artist, her most recently exhibited body of art, entitled “Nature Narratives” consisting of low relief 3-D sculptural assemblages (collages) made from welded steel, and ‘trail treasures’ collected from nature and humankind discarded items found while hiking on public lands in Moab. Gretchen is a former National Board Certified High School Art Educator with an MFA in Illustration and minor in Ceramics. She loves sharing her passion for making art with artists of all ages.
