I am really excited about this trip as it goes past some awesome beaches, with crystal clear waters, with some stunning views on offer. There will also be a beach landing at Seaforth Beach where you can relax or take a swim in the crystal clear water, you will return back to Long Beach in Simons Town. ######################### TOUR DESCRIPTION ######################### We will meet and launch at Long Beach in Simons Town We tour out and back from Long Beach, Simon’s Town. This is an easy and safe excursion through the yacht basin and the extended harbour area, which is rich in naval architecture, boats and history. The small craft harbour is the meeting point for many other on-and-off the water activities such as diving, sailing, and onshore and offshore sightseeing. There are plenty of restaurants and tourist activities in the precinct. The NSRI has a launching facility in the yacht basin. Depending on the wind and swell, our route can include a stretch of coastline to either side of the yacht basin, either down the beach towards the remains of the Clan Stuart shipwreck or outside the harbour wall towards Boulders Beach. It could also include circumnavigating Arc Rock, half a kilometre offshore and possibly Roman Rock Lighthouse, one and half kilometres offshore. You should see penguins, cape fur seals and perhaps sunfish. You should also see seagulls, cormorants and oystercatchers. @@ Boulders Beach is one of Cape Town’s most visited beaches and the only place in the world where you get close to African Penguins. Boulders Beach is a sheltered beach made up of inlets between granite boulders, from which the name originated. It is a popular tourist spot because of a colony of African penguins which settled there in 1982. Boulders Beach forms part of the Table Mountain National Park. These African penguins are only found on the coastlines of Southern Africa - (South Africa & Namibia). These penguins are currently on the verge of extinction. As a result, the penguins are under the protection of the Cape Nature Conservation. @@ Long Beach is known for being one of the best scuba diving training sites in Cape Town. It has a maximum depth of about 18 meters. The beach is well protected from most winds and waves due to the shape of the harbor. The bottom shelves gradually down from the shore to a depth of 18 m at the Simon's Town Harbour mouth.
