Step into the chaos, comedy, and charm of a wedding gone wildly off the rails! ACT is excited to announce auditions for the classic stage comedy Father of the Bride, where a “simple wedding” turns into anything but—and poor Mr. Banks is just trying to hold it all together!

No preparation required—auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. All experience levels encouraged!

A wide range of roles for adults and teens!
This fast-paced family comedy is full of fun character moments and ensemble energy—perfect for actors who enjoy humor, heart, and quick timing.
Mr. Stanley Banks (Male, 40s-50s): An ordinary suburban father grappling with the emotional and financial chaos of his daughter's wedding.
Mrs. Ellie Banks (Female, 40s-50s): Mr. Banks' wife, who helps manage the escalating wedding plans and provides a centering energy for the family.
Kay Banks (Female, early 20s): The bride, a young woman around twenty or twenty-one who initially wants a simple wedding but gets caught up in the grandeur.
Ben Banks (Male, late teens/early 20s): The older son, around eighteen or nineteen.
Tommy Banks (Male, early teens): The younger son.
Buckley Dunstan (Male, early 20s): The groom, about twenty-three.
Peggy Swift (Female, late teens/early 20s): Ben's girlfriend/a friend.
Delilah (Female, 20s): The Banks' housekeeper.
Miss Bellamy (Female, 30s-40s): Mr. Banks' efficient, but eventually overwhelmed, secretary.
Mr./Mrs. Massoulla (Any gender): The caterer/wedding planner.
SMALLER ROLES! PERFECT FOR THOSE NEW TO THE STAGE OR WANT A SMALLER COMMITMENT.
Joe (Male, 20s-30s): Mr. Massoulla's assistant.
Mrs. Pulitzki (Female, 30s-50s): The dressmaker.
Red (Male, 20s-50s): A furniture mover.
Pete (Male, 20s-50s): Another furniture mover.
Tim's Man/Woman (Any gender): Florist delivery person.
Extras: Two or three additional extras may be used to bring in flowers and plants or serve as general guests.

The Banks’ daughter, Kay, is getting married—and what begins as a modest affair quickly spirals into a whirlwind of expenses, opinions, guests, vendors, and growing stress. Through it all, Mr. Banks must navigate the madness with patience, love, and (hopefully) his sanity intact! A delightful, timeless comedy full of warmth and laughs.
