- **Event Name**: One flower, one place: Spotlight on Missoula's Endemic Wildflower
- **Event Start and End Date**: Tue, 10 Mar, 2026 at 06:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Join us for Blooms & Brews on March 10th from 6-8 pm.
Nestled in the windswept, arid ridges of Missoula's North Hills grows an endemic wildflower found nowhere else on Earth. Dr. Meredith Zettlemoyer (University of Montana) will share her lab's new research program studying how the endemic Missoula phlox (Phlox missoulensis) survives, reproduces, and fits into its ecological and evolutionary neighborhood. We will discuss the remarkable floral diversity of this species, its population health, how it's related to similar species, and how it interacts with the local plant and pollinator community. By understanding Missoula phlox's evolution and ecology, we hope to help guide conservation for this rare species and the unique ecosystem it depends on.
