The Ontario Open returns at Maple Pinball in Mississauga, It’s the largest pinball event in Ontario in 2025. 5 events over one weekend, Nov. 28-30 at Maple Pinball in Mississauga, home to over 70 new and classic machines.
Lots of payouts, A & B Divisions and one last big push for the Provincials and the NEW Canadian National Pinball Championships (announced soon) in spring 2026.

Weekend packages are capped at 72 players, waitlist will be taken. Weekend players will receive preference and be able to book on Wed.,. Sept 10 (6pm ET). Cost: $150 for weekend Fri-Sun. This covers 3 of the events: Main, Classics, MatchPlay. Cost covers fee for Maple Pinball, expenses, trophies, IFPA fees, and prize money for these 3 event’s prize pools. The $150 weekend package includes 15 free entries into the Main event and one free raffle ticket, if signed up & paid by Sept. 17. Women’s Saturday event (24 players) is an additional optional $25 for those interested. 3 Strikes event (44 players) is additional optional $20 on Sunday.

Tourneys include:
1. Ontario Open Main event. Best game (herb score) – Fri-Sun. ‘A’ & ‘B’ divisions. Qualifying ends 1pm Sunday. Individual cost for this tourney only is $75, if not buying the weekend package ($150). This Main event is capped at 84, but only 72 weekend packages are available.
2. Ontario Open Classics event. Friday night (MaxMatchPlay) from 6-9pm. Playoffs Sat. morning (Amazing Race for top 20). Individual cost for this tourney only is $50 (if not sold out), for those not buying the weekend package ($150). Playoffs played on EM’s & SS’s in Row 1-4.
3. Ontario Open Women’s event. Saturday morning, 10am-noon. 6 rounds of group matchplay. Top 4 finals (ladder) at 12:10pm. Additional optional payment of $25 required. Capped at 44 players. Played in Row 5-6.
4. Ontario Open Match Play event. Friday night at 9:30pm for rounds 1 & 2, continues Saturday at 1pm with round 3. Each of the 10 rounds consists of 2 games in the same era (EM’s, SS’s, Moderns). Top 24 in "A" playoffs. Next 4 (eligible*) in "B" playoffs. 1st round of playoffs (3 games, 4 players) for "A" is Saturday night after round 10 (and after significant tie-breakers). Sunday playoff rounds 2-4 start at 9am and "B" playoffs start at approx. noon (when finals in “A” begin). Individual cost for this tourney only is $75 (if not sold out), for those not buying the weekend package ($150).
5. Ontario Open 3 Strikes event. Capped at 44 players. Cost $20 (with 100% full refund available for this 3 Strikes event, if you choose to play in Main playoffs instead). This is a separate event not covered in weekend fee. Starts Sunday at 2pm. Note: may or may not be IFPA. Depends if selfish/greedy playoff players in Main event want to play in it...for which they will not be allowed, and then this event becomes non-IFPA. Public shame to follow.

This Main event is included with the Weekend package purchase. If you’d like this tournament only, cost is $75 (individual tourney payment available Oct. 6 at 6pm ET). There is a cap 84 players for Main event (only).

- Bank of 13 machines (4-5 from each era). Your best scores on 9 different machines count for your total.
- Top 24 in A Division (top 8 get a bye). Top 24 in ‘A’ playoffs get paid. “A” Winner gets trophy and name on banner!
- B division (eligible): top 8 players (players ranked 1-600 as of Nov. 27 not eligible for B division). Top 8 in ‘B’ playoffs get paid.
- After qualifying is done, players tied with the same number of points will have their best game(s) as tie breaker(s) for seeding ONLY. If two or more players are tied for a significant playoff spot (i.e. byes, or final playoff spot), they will play a one-game playoff (random game & order) to determine seeding. This will take place immediately when qualifying ends at 1pm Sunday.
- Playoffs: Sunday at 1:30pm (goal to be done by 7:30pm).
- Players will play 3 games per round with 4-2-1-0 scoring, with the top 2 players advancing to the next round. Top seed picks game bank or order of 1st game (lowest score of playoff game gets choice of order on next game in that bank). If there's a tie after 3 games to advance or any spot 1st-4th place in Finals, top seed gets choice of order on pre-determined tie-breaker game.
- Top 24 in "A" and top 8 in "B" get paid.
- IFPA Certified event which will result in a total of 220% WPPR
2. Ontario Open Classics event. Friday night start at 6pm sharp.
- Max MatchPlay from 6-9pm. All players must be checked-in by 5:50pm. Late-comers will not be added.
- Top 20 to Amazing Race finals Saturday morning. Playoffs EM’s & SS’s in Row 1-4.
- If two or more players are tied for final playoff spot, they will play a one-game playoff (random game & order) to determine seeding immediately after last match Friday night.
- WPPR based on number of games played.
- Top 10 get paid. Top winner gets trophy and name on banner!
This Classics event is included with the Weekend package purchase. If you’d like this tournament only, cost is $50 (Classics tourney payment available Oct. 6 at 6pm ET if not sold out. Capped at 76 players)
3. Ontario Open Women’s – Saturday 10am-noon. Playoffs after 6 rounds
- 6 rounds of 4-player groups (7-5-3-1 scoring), swiss pairing.
- Top 4 after 6 rounds advance to finals. After qualifying is done, players tied with the same number of points will have their 1st & 2nd place finishes as tie breakers for seeding ONLY. If two or more players are tied for final 4th playoff spot, they will play a one-game playoff (random game & order) to determine seeding immediately after round 6 is complete.
- Playoff is a 4 player group Ladder match. Top seed picks order or machine on each game. (1st game is EM, 2nd is SS, last game is Modern). Next highest seed picks order (or machine if available). Lowest score in group is eliminated
- Top 4 get paid. Top winner gets trophy and name on banner!
This Women’s tournament cost is $25.
4. Match Play event – Fri/Sat/Sun
- only weekend players are eligible for this event
- Starts Friday night at 9:30pm for round 1, then round 2. Groups of 4 players. Play 2 games/round; each round is a different era of machines. (7-5-3-1 scoring). Resumes Saturday at 1pm with round 3 until round 10 is completed at 10pm (approx). 30 minute dinner break after last game completed in round 7.
- Playoffs: First round of starts Saturday night immediately after Round 10. Quarter finals continues Sunday at 9am (to be done between 9am-1:30pm).
- 10 rounds of 4-player groups (20 games in total)
- Certified event. 200% WPPR estimate
- Top 24 in A Division and each get paid. Top winner gets trophy and name on banner!
- B division (eligible): top 4 players (players ranked 1-600 as of Nov. 27 not eligible for B division). Top 4 in B playoffs get paid.
- After qualifying is done, if two or more players are tied for final playoff spot(s), they will play a one-game playoff (random game & order) to determine seeding. This will take place immediately when qualifying ends.
- Players will play 3 games per round with 4-2-1-0 scoring, with the top 2 players advancing to the next round. Top seed picks game bank or order of 1st game (lowest score of playoff game gets choice of order for next game in that bank). A player cannot pick the same bank, 2 rounds in a round.
- If there's a tie after 3 games to advance or any spot 1st-4th place overall, top seed will have choice of order on tie-breaker machine. Each bank has a designated tie-breaker machine shown to the players upon selecting the bank.
This MatchPlay event is included with the Weekend package purchase. If you’d like this tournament only, cost is $75 (if not sold out). You need to play both Saturday, and be available for playoffs on Sunday at 9am.
5. Sunday 3 strikes event – (2pm start)
- Players will play in a 4 (or 3) player group each round. In a 4 player group, the last 2 places will receive a strike. In a 3 player group, only the player in 3rd place will receive a strike.
- Swiss pairing.
- There are no playoffs for this tourney. When a player has 3 total strikes, they are eliminated from the tournament. Top 8 get paid.
