PEO Mississauga Chapter Bridge Building Challenge - 2025

PEO Mississauga Chapter is very excited to announce that our annual middle school students Bridge Building Challenge will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Please encourage your middle school students to join the challenge to develop their design, construction, creative skills, teamwork, and public presentation/speaking. This event is our opportunity as engineers to get students interested in the profession.

This challenge is open to students currently enrolled in grades 6, 7, and 8 at a school located in Mississauga and neighboring areas. Building materials and instructions will be provided after the registration is closed.

The top three teams from each grade will receive awards.

Tentative Schedule:

Please notice that this event includes two sessions (Information/Tutorial Session and Challenge Session):

Information/Tutorial Session: On October 15, 2025 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM: Registered students need to come to Tomken Road Middle school (3200 Tomken Road, Mississauga, ON L4W 1J9) to join a bridge building tutorial/information session and pick up their bridge building kits. We will have some experts there to explain structural engineering concepts and bridge building basics.

Challenge Session: On Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 8:30 am to about 3:00 pm (Please note that each student may need to remain at the event for about 2 to 3 hours during this time frame, the tentative schedule is outlined below. A detailed group presentation time schedule will be emailed to you after the registration is closed)

Tentative schedule of Challenge Session on November 22, 2025 (time may vary depending on the number of registrants):

8:45 AM to 11:30 AM – Grade 6 students

10:00 AM to 1:00 PM- Grade 7 students

11:00 AM to 2:00 PM- Grade 8 students

Pizza Lunchtime: 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Venue: Tomken middle school north building, 3200 Tomken Road, Mississauga, ON L4W 1J9

Registration fee: $10 per team (includes pizza lunch and the building materials). Each team should have two students from the same grade.
