精進巴拉密，為成就眾生的勇猛資糧。無論讀經、聞法、行善、持戒或是透過禪修的功課，加以正念用功，將來必定可以成為證得涅槃的資糧。學佛者要發願樂行世尊的法教，為捨離貪、瞋、癡三毒之根本目標。

Viriya is effort, energy, diligence and vigour.
Viriya helps citta not to withdraw from the object and it exerts an effort to take the object. In the presence of viriya all other cetasikas and citta work energetically with full effort.
