What to Expect
• Designated hunt areas across the historic homestead
• Statement for Metal Detecting Event — Cornwallis 1828 (March 14)
All participants in the Cornwallis 1828 metal detecting event on March 14 acknowledge and agree that any significant historical finds recovered during the hunt will remain on the Cornwallis 1828 homestead. These items will be preserved and documented and used for educational purposes, including interpretation and display as part of Cornwallis 1828 school field trips and other community learning programs.
When an item is documented for educational use, the name of the person who recovered the item will be recorded and credited as the discoverer, and that credit may be included in exhibits, field trip lessons, signage, printed materials, and other educational content connected to the artifact and its history.
