About our Whirlers:

Zachary Scot Johnson is an accomplished singer-songwriter who has shared stages with renowned artists like Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn, and Lisa Loeb, while building an impressive internet presence with over 42 million YouTube views. His musical versatility extends across multiple instruments including guitar, piano, banjo, and many others, allowing him to perform across diverse genres from folk to jazz. Best known for his "thesongadayproject" YouTube channel, Johnson has remarkably released a song every day for over 11.5 years (4,200+ consecutive days) and collaborated with over 300 guests including Donovan, Rosanne Cash, and Jeff Daniels. Based in Saint Paul, MN, Johnson maintains an active touring schedule of 100+ shows annually while also hosting podcasts dedicated to Joni Mitchell and Meryl Streep.

Jillian Rae is a multifaceted singer, songwriter, and classically trained violinist known for creating authentic, genre-defying music that spans rock, pop, folk, and Americana. Beyond fronting her own critically acclaimed band, she performs with traditional folk group Corpse Reviver and has toured with Grammy-winning acts like The Okee Dokee Brothers. Her 2019 album "I Can't Be the One You Want Me to Be" showcased her orchestration abilities and featured "Wayward One," which gained significant popularity after appearing in the hit Chinese film "The White Storm 2." Raised in Minnesota's Iron Range with influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix to traditional Scandinavian music, Rae has established herself as an in-demand producer and session player who runs a Minneapolis studio with her partner Eric Martin while maintaining a twenty-year teaching practice.

Matthew French is an evocative Americana singer-songwriter from the heartland whose music blends heartfelt storytelling with rock influences, drawing inspiration from artists like Tom Petty and David Ramirez. His emerging career has earned notable recognition, including a nomination for the Midwest Country Music Award for "Collaboration Of The Year" and runner-up honors in the Red Lodge Music Festival Songwriting Contest. A dedicated supporter of the local music scene, French is currently focused on his latest project "Circles," which explores personal and universal themes through his signatureacoustic instrumentation and heartfelt vocals. With each performance, he creates intimate, unforgettable connections with audiences, establishing himself as a vital voice in the contemporary singer-songwriter landscape.

crafts endearingly honest songs that encourage audiences to pull away from the big picture and get caught up in the magic of everyday minutia—her sunlit voice granting permission to escape into stories at once familiar and uniquely her own. A winner of the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition and three-time Midwest Country Music Organization Songwriter of the Year, Morris's 5th album Here's To You was named the organization's Album of the Year in 2024.

Whether performing solo or with her stellar bandmates, The Sometimes Guys (Dave Mehling, Nick Salisbury, Haley Rydell, and Lars-Erik Larson), Morris's playful-hearted presence captivates audiences at venues ranging from intimate listening rooms to expansive festival grounds across the Midwest region. Beyond performing, she nurtures fellow artists through creative coaching, songwriting instruction, and community initiatives including "The Listen-In" in Ely, MN and "Family Dinner" at White Squirrel.
