Featuring a post screening Q&A with director Emily Goldberg and subjects Venus De Mars & Lynette Reini-Grandell.

A transgender pioneer and her wife negotiate the frontiers of love and gender in Emily Goldberg’s award-winning 2003 documentary.

The film follows Venus de Mars, the iconic lead singer of Minneapolis glam rock band All the Pretty Horses, and Lynette Reini-Grandell, author of Wild Things: A Trans-Glam-Punk-Rock Love Story, on a relationship-redefining journey. From Duluth to NYC and the UK, with stops at Playboy, a suburban metal bar, and public television, the band's travels offer a lens that reveals wildly divergent reactions to transgenderism at the close of the 20th century.

A great rock 'n' roll documentary, as well as an unbiased look at the transgender world, Venus of Mars is highly recommended. - R. Blackwelder, Video Librarian magazine
