This activity is fun for all ages and open to birders with all levels of experience, and binoculars are provided.This is a walking event. We strongly encourage wearing comfortable, close-toed shoes for this slow-paced walk on easy to moderate terrain. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles. Seating is not available.All levels of experience are welcome. The event begins with a brief lesson on technique and local bird diversity, followed by a group walk to observe and learn about birds.LocationThis event takes place near scenic Jo Pond (Lakewood’s onsite lake), located about a half mile from the main gate. Directional signs will be posted.Click here for GPS directions to the event site via Google Maps. (Please note: Google’s route may differ from the posted signs, but both will take you to the correct place.)About Your InstructorAmy Simso Dean has been birding for over 25 years. She is the founder and executive direction of MYBirdClub – a nonprofit birdwatching club for kids. Amy also co-founded The Kestrels, an inclusive birding club for women. She became a Master Naturalist in 2024. As much as she enjoys observing birds, she really loves getting people excited about birds and birding.What To Bring(optional) Water(optional) Sunscreen and/or a sun hatBinoculars will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own. However, for ease of instruction, we may ask you to use the binoculars provided.RestroomsRestrooms are not available during this event. The Garden Mausoleum and Memorial Mausoleum have accessible restrooms to use before or after the event.Tickets onsiteIf this event is not sold out, tickets will be available onsite.
