- **Event Description**: This week at the Lake Harriet Bandshell we are hosting Michael Monroe, an acoustic artist. From vinyl to digital in 2025, celebrated 55th year in music biz as a full time performing artist...performed at Lake Harriet Bandshell nearly annually since the 70s and 8/9/08 we had 3k in audience who witnessed our pop-up wedding. (Never cancelled a rainy show...people enjoyed hunkering down!) I perform a mix of my original music from 11 recordings and tunes by James Taylor Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Simon & Garfunkel and still feelin' groovy! Lived on the Grand Marais North Shore area for 28 years and now enjoying life back in Twin Cities still performing with the guitars built from 200 year-old recycled wood from the bottom of Lake Superior...famous for holding Log Cabin Concerts up north in our amazing log cabin for 18 years with 800 attendees per year. I composed the music for Jim Brandenburg's Chased By The Light, where he took only one photo a day, and received an Emmy for other music I created for KSTP's On the Road with Jason Davis:  "Soaring On Mended Wings" for the raptor center. Since 1892, Music in the Parks has provided residents and families opportunities to gather and enjoy local music throughout the summer. Since its inception thousands of free concerts have taken place. Concerts are weekly and vary from classic rock, hip hop, international, funk and many more genres of music.
