Don Powell is an accomplished playwright, theatrical stage performer, television spokesman, producer, director, and conductor, as well as a former Apprentice Baritone with The Metropolitan Opera Company. As a record producer, he boasts an extraordinary track record that includes 44 Top 10 records, 30 Gold Albums, 19 Platinum Albums, and over 80 professional honors and awards. He has achieved Top 10 hits in each of the last four decades and produced 16 #1 singles. In 1965, Don was named the promotion man for The Beatles’ U.S. tour, marking a pivotal moment in music history. During his tenure at Motown, he became deeply involved in the civil rights movement, even marching with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Most recently, Don collaborated with Adi Yeshaya to record music for a new theatrical project on Cole Porter, in which he will also star. Additionally, he and Stevie Wonder are currently co-writing a new musical for the theatre—a continuation of their extraordinary 54-year working relationship.
Adi Yeshaya is a composer, arranger, and pianist originally from Israel. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in the U.S. He now resides in the Twin Cities region. His career highlights include arranged and orchestrated for high-profile artists such as Whitney Houston, Prince, and Lena Horne. He has performed and/or arranged for the Minnesota Orchestra under conductors such as Doc Severinsen. He leads the Adi Yeshaya Jazz Orchestra—a 13-piece jazz orchestra that interprets his arrangements and original compositions. He is also active as an educator, having taught at institutions including the University of Minnesota and Berklee. Adi Yeshaya’s musical style spans jazz, big-band arranging, orchestration and crossover genres combining jazz, pop, and orchestral textures.
