Thank you to inspiration from a recent webinar hosted by Bideawee's Feral Cat Initiative, we're planning a cat shelter build! Our goal is to do this using donated and borrowed items. Next year we'll be sure to get ahead of the Winter weather, but we're looking at this as better late than never! Everyone is welcome, even if you don't have experience in building cat shelters - we will watch some videos together, walk everyone through the steps, and learn together.
We have secured styrofoam coolers but we're still looking for:
- 2'x8' sheets of rigid foam insulation, 2" thick
- mylar bubble wrap
- duct tape
- tubes of all-weather exterior adhesive caulk
- caulk guns
- peel & stick vinyl floor tiles
- hacksaws, box cutters, T-square
- long, thin nails, upholstery pins, or construction screws, about 3" long
- bricks (for weight)
- straw - long/natural, not craft straw
- very large garbage bags
- wood pallets
If you have time, we'd love if you could ask folks you know who may have these items laying around or scope out free neighborhood groups, or Facebook marketplace. Items can be brought to the Ethique Nouveau on or before January 21st. If you're unable to transport, please send us a message and we will try to arrange a pick-up. Thank you!
* Note: If you're sensitive to the sound of styrofoam being cut, we recommend ear plugs and we will have music playing as well!
