Kids go free.About this EventJoin us for a family-friendly outdoor guided walk across Bodmin Moor, exploring more than 4,000 years of Cornwall's mining and geological history.Starting at The Cheesewring Car Park, Minions (PL14 5LE), this engaging walk and talk will take participants from the prehistoric Hurlers Stone Circle through ancient tin workings, historic granite quarries and the world-famous South Caradon Mine. Along the way, you'll discover how Cornwall's rocks formed, learn how tin and copper shaped the Bronze Age, explore the growth and decline of Cornwall's mining industry and hear how critical minerals will help support the UK's energy transition, enable the development of new technologies and create opportunities for future generations.Children will have the opportunity to help explain 400 million years of geological history, search for and identify minerals, and learn why Cornwall's mineral wealth has been important for generations. The walk is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for families while offering plenty of fascinating insights for adults.The route covers just over a mile before lunch and a similar distance afterwards, following footpaths, tracks and open moorland at a gentle pace. The group will return to Minions village around midday, allowing time to use local facilities and purchase lunch before continuing the afternoon exploration.Whether you are interested in history, geology, mining, nature or Cornwall's role in supplying the materials needed for future technologies, this event offers a unique opportunity to explore one of the county's most remarkable landscapes.Meeting Point: The Cheesewring Car Park, Minions, Liskeard, PL14 5LEWhat3Words: corrosive.bugs.steamSuitable for adults and children.
