10月に入りちょっと涼しくなり秋の気配も感じられるようになりましたが、みなさまはいかがお過ごしでしょうか。

2001年創立の「東京多色文化の会」(通称ポリカル)ですが、世の中の5つのボーダー(年齢、言語、職業、階層、国籍)を取っ払い、知的ネットワークを築いていくという理念で継続しています。ウクライナやパレスチナの戦争で世界の分断が進行する今ほど、ポリカル的理念が必要とされています。

そんな混迷が深まる世界と日本の状況ですが、次回のポリカルチャーのレクチャーイベントは昨年同様「長野県小野から世界一のピノノワール造りを目指す」ワイン醸造家、沼田実さんをゲストに、ワイン造りとワイン世界をテーマに開催します。

いま、日本ワインやワイナリー、そして日本の醸造家に世界が注目しつつあります。日本酒や醤油などに代表される「発酵・醸造大国」日本は、いまワインの分野でも、日本産ワインのクオリティと実力が試されていると言えます。日々進化する日本ワインとワイン造りについて、ワイン道40年超(ワイン道垂直制覇)の沼田さんの経験と知見に静かに耳を傾けてみたいと思います。

昨年秋9月末開業したキリノカワイナリーのその後の歩みと豊作との評判の高い今年の収穫を盛大に祝いたいと思います。

ホテルでソムリエとして勤務後、ワイン輸入会社に勤めつつ、並行してコンクール審査員やスクール講師としても活躍。
・会社を辞してニュージーランド国立リンカーン大学で栽培・醸造学を修め卒業した後の現在はワインコンサルタント、スクール講師、また栽培・醸造家としても活躍。
・所有資格は、ソムリエからソバリエまで多種多様。

沼田さん(以下ヌマッサン)と知り合ったのは、20年ほど前、とあるワインセミナーを通じてでした。当時からワインだけでなくワイン業界、マーケティングの知識の深さに加え、プレゼンの巧みさ、分かり易さ、構成力、そしてその卓越したコミュニケーション力に圧倒されました。それから20年が経ち、ヌマッサンはワイン造りに夢中になり栽培・醸造、そしてついに自分のワイナリーを創ってそのオーナーとして八面六臂の大活躍を継続中です。

そんな超多忙のヌマッサンですが、一年前の小生との約束を律儀に守り、持病があるにも関わらず今年も12月12日にゲストスピーカとして来て頂くことになりました。「昭和の親父臭」が200%ムンムン、外見も含め昭和のガンコオヤジそのものです。(もちろんいい意味で、笑)

ソムリエから始まり、ワインスクール講師、そして栽培・醸造の学位も取得し、最後はワイナリーオーナー、という「ワイン道垂直制覇」を達成し、他には誰も出来ない茨の道を突き進む「漢ヌマッサン」。今回もそんな沼田先生と一緒に、ワイン造りはもとより、ワインとワイン世界が持つ人を紡ぎ繋ぐ力、ヌマッサンしか語れないとっておきの裏話を拝聴したいと思います。そしてワインと我々の未来についても大いに語りあいましょう!

Since we entered September, the weather has gradually cooled down, and we can now feel the signs of autumn. How are you all doing?

Club Polyculture Tokyo (commonly known as ’Poricaru’) was founded in 2001 and continues to operate with the philosophy of "going beyond the five borders of the world & the people (age, language, occupation, class, and nationality) and aiming to build an intellectual network".

This polyculture philosophy is more needed now than ever, as the world is becoming increasingly divided as exemplified in the wars in Ukraine and Palestine. Despite such a state of dichotomy and confusion, we would like to analyse the relation between the world and Japan through wines and wine making.

Next Polyculture lecture event will be held on the theme of the wine & wine world, with winemaker Minoru Numata as the guest speaker, who "aims to make the world's best Pinot Noir from Ono, Nagano Prefecture."

Japanese wines, wineries, and Japanese winemakers are now being payed more & more attention. Japan is & has been actually a "fermentation and brewing powerhouse" represented by Sake and soy sauce, etc., and given such an artisanal high quality and ability of Japanese wine making, it now needs to be globally scrutinized and certified.in the field of wine as well.

I would like you all to listen carefully to the experience and knowledge of Mr. Numata, a wine man with 40 years of experience, about the ever-evolving Japanese wine and winemaking scape. This year as well, we would like to celebrate the harvest of Kirinoka Winery which inaugurated last September and now expect to enjoy a good harvest for the year 2025.

After working as a sommelier at a hotel, he worked for a wine import company while also working as a competition judge and school instructor. After leaving the company and graduating from Lincoln University in New Zealand with a degree in winemaking and grape cultivation, he is now active as a wine consultant, school instructor, and winemaker.

WSET Level 4 Diploma, Japan Wine Master (Level 1), Diploma of Viticulture and Oenology at Lincoln Uni. NZ, CWE of USA, JSA-Sommelier, Comité de Bourgogne Certified Wine Instructor, Edo Sobalier, and the best Japanese judge at the 2008 Japan Wine Challenge.

I met Mr. Numata (hereafter referred to as "Numassan") more than 15 years ago through a wine seminar. Even back then, I was overwhelmed by his profound knowledge of not only wine but also the wine industry and its marketing, as well as his skillful well-structured presentation with clarity, and his outstanding communication skills.

Almost 20 years have passed since then, and Numassan has become even more obsessed with winemaking, and has been cultivating and brewing wine for several years, and finally created his own winery, for which he continues to be highly praised.

Although Numassan is extremely busy, he has dutifully kept his promise he made a year ago and will be coming as a guest speaker on December 12th this year as well. Although he is a few years younger than me, he looks like a more than 100% stubborn "Showa-era man" (in a good sense, lol)

He, started out as a sommelier, then became a wine school instructor, obtained a degree in cultivation and brewing, and finally became a winery owner - a thorny path to the master of "Mondovino" that no one else could follow. This time, I hope to hear some special stories that only Numassan can tell, not only about winemaking, but also about the power of wine and "mondovino" which can smoothly and "polyculturally" connect us all.

First-time participants in polyculture are also wholeheartedly welcome, so please come and join us! Let's talk a lot about wine and our future! Looking forward to welcoming you all.
