FULL SHOW AND REHEARSAL SCHEDULE is at the bottom of this audition notice.

ROLES AVAILABLE:
Dr. Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde, 30s-40s male bass/baritone (Lead):
An idealistic brain surgeon turned inventor. He is working to create and patent a computer chip that when inserted into the brain can dampen or even remove one’s inner demons. As Jekyll he is a kind yet stubborn and passionate man who seeks to change the world for good. As Hyde he is a heartless monster reveling in his base most desires of violence, greed, and lust. We are seeking a versatile actor and rock vocalist.

Gabby Utterson, 20s-50s female mezzo/ belter (Lead):
An off the grid computer “genius” and hacker who is helping Jekyll with his computer chip project. She is a realist with a sharp wit and helps keep Jekyll grounded. Through their work together they’ve become best friends.

Indigo, 20s-40s female soprano/high belter (Lead):
A sex worker and stripper at “Duality,” a gentleman's club and burlesque “cabaret” that tries to be classier than it is. Indigo is cynical and sarcastic with a confident charm that attracts all varieties of the “wrong” men. She also struggles with a drug addiction and desperately wants to get clean and start fresh. At first she has feelings for Jekyll but ends up entangled with Hyde in a toxic and abusive relationship.

Heather, 30s-50s female mezzo/ belter (Lead):
Jekyll’s older sister who works for the corrupt and heartless “big pharma” company “Carew Labs.” She tries to help Jekyll get funding for his computer chip. She is business minded and has no qualms about being a bit cutthroat to get ahead in the company. The siblings are very close, but Heather is frustrated at Jekyll’s poor life choices and failed career.

Danielle Carew, 30s-60s female mezzo/ belter (Supporting):
The chair of the board of directors (and founder) of “Carew Labs,” a greedy and corrupt pharmaceutical company. She’s ruthless and cold, and the question “What’s in it for us?” is always on her mind.

Cherry, 20s-40s soprano/belter (Supporting):
Indigo’s best friend and fellow stripper at “Duality.” She’s ditzy but energetic, and always the life of the party. Unlike Indigo, she loves being a stripper, and it shows.

Pearl, 20s-50s any gender (Supporting):
The abusive and cruel owner/MC of “Duality,” gentleman’s club. They can be played by any gender and they are sleazy, greedy, and just plain nasty.

Brad, 20s-40s male (Supporting):
Danielle Carew’s weaselly little henchman, whipping boy, and sometimes lover. He would do anything for her to get ahead at "Carew Labs".

Ensemble: To play strippers, strip club clientele, “Carew Labs” board members, and other characters throughout the show. Those playing strippers must be comfortable being scantily clad (no nudity) and doing sexy choreographed dances. Ensemble members may be asked to play both male and female characters.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
- A verse and chorus of a rock song that best showcases your talent. Please no musical theater unless it’s in a rock style. Bring an extra verse and chorus of a contrasting song just in case we'd like to hear more. Please bring a karaoke track (This can be from Youtube) on a smartphone, laptop, iPad, or iPod. We will have a hookup to a speaker at the venue. If you have a fancy new phone without a headphone jack, bring your dongle. No acapella singing. You must have a track to sing with.

- We will have you read “sides” (AKA excerpts) from the script. You can request to read for any part and we may have you read for specific parts we think you’d be suitable for. Sides will be emailed out a week prior to the audition. They do not need to be memorized.

- A short and simple dance combo. 1 week prior to the auditions we will send a youtube link to learn a short 8 bar combo that you’ll perform for us at your audition. Relax and have fun! We just want to see how you move. Lack of dance experience is not a deal breaker.

- Each auditioner will be signing up for a 10 minute audition slot

HOW TO REQUEST AN AUDITION SLOT :
Email Heidi at VG9yY2hzb25nZW50ZXJ0YWlubWVudCB8IGdtYWlsICEgY29t with a headshot and resume and your preferred audition times. DO NOT bring a physical headshot and resume. We want to save trees and your money/ time. Please arrive 10 minutes before your audition to check in. If you can’t audition in person you may submit an audition video. Email for more details on how to submit a video.

CASTING:
We are all about non-traditional casting. Even if a role says "female" or "male" or has a particular age range assigned to it, you may still be considered for the role if you are a great fit!

ACTOR REQUIREMENTS:
Actors will be required to provide their own basic make-up, undergarments (like tights), and some street clothes and things from their own closet. Most other costuming and wigs will be provided. Actors will be required to assist with some set up/ tear down and light cleaning of the theater space and building between shows and dress/techs, and with the final “strike” at the end of the run.

REHEARSALS:
We only rehearse on Sunday evenings for several months and then start to add other nights per week as we get closer to the show opening. If you are the type of person that needs to rehearse every night of the week for 4 months straight in order to get your part down, this is not the company for you. We expect actors to come prepared and do work on their own to polish their lines and choreo. It's a short rehearsal process and has been challenging for some actors in the past who are used to more traditional community theater schedules.

- All rehearsals at Samaritan Odd Fellows Lodge in Milwaukie unless otherwise noted
- All actors may not be required at every rehearsal. Rehearsal schedules are updated weekly and we’ll let you know when you’ll be needed and what time.
- Actors are allowed only 3 pre-approved excused absences. You need to know your conflicts before auditioning. Actors with more than 3 pre-approved conflicts DO NOT apply. More than 1 unexcused absence will result in the actor being removed from the production. Any no show/no call absence will result in the actor being removed from the production.
