It is historical (dates back to the 17th Century), it is contemporary (new dances written daily), it is an ancestor to US dance forms like Contra and Square Dancing, it is international*, and it is evolving!

The Milwaukee Scottish Country Dancers (MkeSCD) is offering weekly SOCIAL DANCE classes on the UWM campus in Zelazo Studio 378 (kitty-corner from the UWM Union) on Thursday evenings 7-9PM. Parking is available on the street, in the Zelazo Center parking lot, or in the Union parking structure. 

We meet every Thursday [except these remaining 2026 dates: 7/23, 7/30, 8/13, 10/15, 10/22, 11/26, 12/24, 12/31]. We typically dance in groups of 6-8 people to lively music recorded by world-class Scottish musicians, but on occasion we have live music! 
 
New Dancers are always welcome! It is an open class!  Class fees are for facility rental: $5 cash, Zelle, or Zeffy. 
 
Teacher: Rebecca Renee Winnie is fully certificated by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) after a full career as a music educator. She teaches with the Milwaukee and Madison Scottish Country Dancers.

Although the class is for adults, teens ages 13 and up are welcome if accompanied by a parent/guardian. Families indeed enjoy dancing together!
