What is Kirtan?
Kirtan is a very simple and powerful way to meditate. It’s effortless and joyful; the music does the work for you as you flow with the melody and rhythm. The performers & the concert-goers create the experience together. You can sing, dance, play shakers, sit and listen...anyway that you feel moved to partake in it. While singing is the heart of Kirtan, no one cares what you sound like. In fact, the practice of Kirtan is meant to connect you with your own unique voice. At a Kirtan concert all voices merge together to become One Voice.
​Kirtan began in India centuries ago. In the last twenty five years, it has become a phenomenon across the United States, and has transformed musically to appeal to the ears of American audiences.
