This Rune Intensive is a four-class series designed to guide students from foundational understanding to practical application of the Elder Futhark. We’ll begin with a general introduction and then explore each aett as its own thematic and energetic grouping. The classes are progressive—each session builds on the last. Our final class brings all three aetts together for hands-on practice, including basic divination with classmates.

The Elder Futhark is the ancient Nordic alphabet and magical system, historically used for writing, divination, spellwork, and pathworking.

Class One — The First Aett: Freyr’s/Freyja’s Aett

This class explores themes of creation, wealth, strength and manifestation, protection, divine inspiration, journeying, knowledge and craftsmanship, reciprocity, and joy.

Hagalaz | Nauthiz | Isa | Jera | Eihwaz | Perthro | Algiz/Elhaz | Sowilo
Here we focus on the challenges faced by gods and humans alike—the “second act” where tension rises and trials shape destiny. Themes include powerful change, resilience, patience, reward cycles, transformation, fate, spiritual protection, and illumination.

Class Three — The Third Aett: Tyr’s Aett
Tiwaz | Berkano | Ehwaz | Mannaz | Laguz | Ingwaz | Othala | Dagaz
This class delves into leadership and justice, fertility and growth, sacred partnership, human society, intuition, inner development, ancestry and home, and profound transformation.

Class Four — Elder Futhark Integration
In our final session, we’ll work with the full Elder Futhark for divination, magical applications, and spiritual practice, weaving together everything learned in the series.
