Whether you're dreaming of a romantic lace robe, a timeless linen layer, a lightweight cotton robe for summer mornings or an elegant getting-ready robe for a wedding, this workshop will guide you through creating a garment that's uniquely yours.

These robes are one of Arianes passions. My home is full of them and I often make new ones for photoshoots... once you know how these are amazing pieces to keep making time and time again


In this full-day sewing workshop, you'll create your own luxury robe using Arianes personal pattern, while learning garment construction techniques and professional finishing methods that you can apply to future sewing projects.

Using a versatile robe pattern, you'll customise your design to suit your own style, choosing your preferred length, sleeve style and finishing details to create a robe you'll treasure for years to come.

Throughout the day you'll learn how to:
• Read and understand a commercial sewing pattern.
• Cut fabric accurately and efficiently.
• Assemble and construct a robe from start to finish.
• Sew neckbands, sleeves and hems with confidence.
• French Seams
• Create beautiful professional finishes.
• Customise your robe with different lengths, sleeve styles and design details - will yours have pockets?
• Learn tips and techniques for working with a variety of fabrics.

•Will yours be finished with lace edging, contrast fabric facing

•Will you french seam the inside or use bias binding

Suitable for
Confident beginners through to experienced sewists. Participants should be comfortable using a sewing machine (ie. Threading, winding and changing a bobbin, Backstitch and sewing straight stitch)

Duration
9:30am to 4:30pm
(45-minute lunch break)

Fabric Suggestions
This robe can be made from a wide variety of fabrics, including:
• Linen
• Cotton
• Cotton voile
• Double gauze
• Lace
• Mesh
• Lightweight satin
• Rayon and viscose blends
For this class you are to bring your own fabric, or fabric can be purchased from Ariane for an additional cost - please speak to Ariane pre class around what you would like to make with, as your facings, belt and internal seams may work best in a contrast fabric or using bindings. Ariane will help to advise pre class. With a small amount of prep this class will leave you with a robe you love!

Fabric to purchase if 150cm wide:
- Short robe x 5m
- Knee length robe x 6.5m
- Floorlength robe x 7.5m

Please bring:
• Your sewing machine
• Threads to match your fabric colour
• Basic sewing kit
• Fabric and matching thread
• Lunch and a water bottle
