About the Next Generation Big Band
The Next Generation Big Band has musical roots that span back 8 decades to 1953 when Al Raymond, already a seasoned trumpeter, decided it was time to put his dream into action, and form his own big band. Through Al Raymond’s 45-year career as a big band leader, they enjoyed a string of notable successes; performing with quite a few Stars: Mel Torme’, Shirley Jones, Merv Griffin, Tony Martin, Al Martino, Tony Randall, Frank Gorshin, to name just a few. The Al Raymond Big Band recorded over 20 albums and played at the Inaugural Balls of Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. After 45 illustrious years with the band, Al passed the baton to his son, Craig. Craig Raymond got his start in music on the trumpet at age 9. At 18 years old, Craig began playing with the Al Raymond Big Band and performed at the Academy of Music, the Keswick Theater, the Valley Forge Westbury Music Fairs, the Grand Opera House, and many of Atlantic City’s casinos. Now, Craig Raymond The Next Generation Big Band are forging ahead to new musical levels in contemporary, New Era Swing Jazz, while never abandoning the high big band musical standards that his father had set for so many years prior. With a foundation built on rich musical tradition and a clear vision for the new millennium, the Next Generation Big Band will continue to entertain audiences with top-caliber music for any occasion.
