- **Event Description**: Fear, anxiety, and uncertainty are REAL, yet seldom talked about in the law enforcement and first responder community.About this EventLas Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Captain Josh Bitsko was in law enforcement for 24 years. Captain Bitsko started a business and developed training on Police Resiliency and Critical Incident Mindset. This class deals with the intense emotions that an officer will experience when responding to an active shooter but is applicable to all critical incidents. Captain Bitsko provides a unique perspective about what officers will feel in the moment, and the trauma that can have a lifelong impact. In 2017, Captain Bistko responded to the 1 October Massacre at the Route 91 concert festival in Las Vegas, and led a team that ultimately breached the suspect's door. This had a profound impact on Captain Bitsko, and he shares his story during this class.Captain Bitsko also discussed science-based research on trauma and crisis response. The class provides coping strategies in the moment for a more consistent and effective response to the worst call that a police officer can handle. We also teach how impactful trauma can be, and how to process through it in the years after. In addition, Captain Bitsko was the incident commander for the tragic active shooter at the University of Nevada Las Vegas that recently occurred on December 6th, 2023. He developed a detailed tactical debrief where lessons learned and tactical considerations for similar responses are discussed.Hosted by the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office - Santa Rosa County Auditorium 4530 Spikes Way, Milton, FL 32583.
