This hands-on workshop, taught by published author Darcy Marks, demystifies the publishing world and gives writers a clear, confidence-building roadmap from finished draft to published book. Students will explore major publishing pathways such as traditional, small press, hybrid, and self-publishing, while learning how to choose the route that best aligns with their goals and needs.

This workshop covers the essentials that every author needs: ensuring your work is submission ready, crafting a compelling query letter, finding your perfect agent/editor, and understanding contracts and timelines. Students will also gain insight into platform-building, marketing expectations, the importance of writing organizations/community, and the realities of today’s book marketplace.

Designed for writers at any stage, this workshop blends practical guidance with interactive discussion, empowering authors to take their next steps with clarity, strategy, and momentum.
