Recorded in New York in 1971, the album marked a shift from spoken-word performance to fully realised song structures, blending soul, jazz, funk, R&B and early rap.Widely regarded as one of Scott-Heron’s most important works, the album has received decades of critical praise and is often cited as a foundational influence on hip hop, electronic music, and socially conscious songwriting.8:30PM - Gil Scott-Heron & Jamie ** – We’re New Here (2011)Released 40 years later, We’re New Here sees producer Jamie ** rework Scott-Heron’s final studio recordings.
