Prepare for a productive growing season with our Gardening 101: Spring Garden Preps workshop at The Farm at Millican Reserve! This hands-on class is designed to get your garden ready for spring planting — from planning your layout to preparing your soil and starting your seeds.
Participants will learn:
Variety Selection: How to choose the right spring crops for your region, climate, and garden size.
Basic Seed Starting: The fundamentals of germinating seeds successfully, including soil blocks, trays, and transplanting tips.
Soil Preparation: Learn how to build and amend your soil for fertility, structure, and healthy root development.
Garden Planning: How to organize your planting areas for succession planting, crop rotation, and maximum yield.
Early Pest & Disease Prevention: Identify potential spring threats and apply organic integrated pest management (IPM) strategies before planting begins.
Whether you’re just starting your first garden or looking to improve your spring harvest, this class will provide the knowledge and confidence to get growing this season.
Parking
Please use the Farm Entrance to Millican Reserve (19851 FM 2154). Designated parking is at the Basecamp grassy area. You MAY NOT PROCEED past the Farm area in your vehicle.
