- **Event Description**: Newville residents, Ann & Sarah Boncal, comprise the mother/daughter team of this jewelry and ornament line. Ann is a retired pharmacist and former owner-manager of Big Spring Pharmacy in Newville, and Sarah has a Bioarcheology Ph.D currently working in the private sector with the goal of becoming a college professor again. These ladies are living the dream of creating unique and hand-crafted items.

What started as a simple shared hobby in Sarah’s early college days back in 2007 has blossomed into a deep immersion of experiencing and mastering ancient techniques like chainmaille and Japanese kumihimo braiding, as well as incorporating newer techniques like resin. They find inspiration in every aspect of life, but the glories of Mother Nature often provide the perfect palette. 

While the duo still enjoy the results of meshing colors and textures into traditional hand-crafted jewelry, they are exploring ways to include found objects in their creations for a mixed media appeal as well. The challenge of taking everyday objects like bullet shells, watch gears, seashells, florals they harvested locally and pressed, nuts and bolts to wearable art or Christmas ornaments has spurred them to a new level of design.

Ann and Sarah have found a home in the local crafters association, and both hold memberships in the Yellow Breeches Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen (PGC) where they are the past President and current Treasurer, respectively, as well as the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the same organization. They are staunch advocates of promoting and supporting local artisans, and they both endeavor to educate and share their passions with students, fellow artisans, and the public whenever possible.
