“We have made a selection for a new prison, five miles from this place, (Millen) on the Augusta Railroad.” Captain D.W. Vowles and W.S. Winder 1864
Gather at Camp Lawton History Center and hike to Camp Lawton’s 161 year old earthen fort. We will discover more about this Civil War prisoner of war camp built to hold 40,000 prisoners. Admission to the History Center is included.
$5 (Ages 3 and under free) Registration is required in advance.

A park pass is required for all events.
