But long before that, the valley was known as Elk Valley, and the beach at the end of the trail was called Indian Cove. Then came that fateful day in 1853. There lies the tale of the wreck of the SS Tennessee, her foolhardy captain, half-crazed ship's doctor, chest of gold, and the missing "keyhole" in the cliff!Greenbelt Alliance educates, advocates, and collaborates to fight sprawl development and protect open spaces throughout the Bay Area. Our work supports more homes within existing communities—across all income levels—in ways that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, climate risks, and impacts on the natural environment. She lives in Corte Madera, which has exciting hiking opportunities on Ring Mountain, Baltimore Canyon, and Mount Tam. She is an identical triplet. She is married with two grown children.Ken Lavin is the Outing Coordinator for Greenbelt Alliance and has been leading our free educational outings for over a decade.
