Join us for a deeply heartfelt evening honoring the life and legacy of Michael Stillwater—a quiet pioneer of the global kirtan and sacred chant movement, whose work for nearly five decades brought people of all paths together in song, devotion, and shared humanity. Long before this movement found its name, Michael was creating ChantWave—a universal, multi-faith communal singing experience that dissolved boundaries and awakened a direct experience of unity. His life’s work—as a chant writer, filmmaker, artist, and co-creator of Graceful Passages: A Companion for Living and Dying—has touched countless lives around the world. In this Marin community, where ChantWave first took root, we gather to honor a beloved friend, collaborator, and visionary whose presence continues to resonate far beyond words.
The evening will unfold in two parts: a Tribute featuring music, reflections, and ceremonial offerings—including an invocation by Jyoti Ma and words from Diane Cirincione-Jampolsky—followed by a living continuation of Michael’s legacy through a ChantWave, led by longtime collaborator Gary Malkin. Joined by special guest Christina Frith (Quinn) and a circle of beloved musicians—including Christine Tullis, Clare Victor, and others—this will be a rare and powerful opportunity to not only remember Michael, but to enter the field he created: a space where voices rise together, hearts open, and community is felt as one.
All are welcome. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
