Over the years, we’ve focused our fundraising efforts on local organizations working toward important goals. While we do receive many requests to host fundraisers for individuals, we typically support those efforts by donating gift cards for raffles, basket auctions, and similar events so we can help as many people as possible.

This time is different — this one hits close to home.

For years, Sherry Swortwood has been an important part of the OIP family — not just as a waitress and manager, but as a friend and someone who genuinely cares about others. She always takes the time to ask how your day is going, how you’re feeling, and how your family is doing. She lifts your spirits, encourages a smile, and is always there to listen. She has taken care of so many people over the years, and now it’s our turn to be there for her.

Sherry and her husband, Carl Swortwood Sr., are facing an incredibly difficult medical journey. In December, Carl was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Since then, he has undergone a major Whipple surgery and experienced serious complications that led to extended hospital stays, additional procedures, and ongoing home nursing and therapy. Once he regains strength, he will begin chemotherapy treatments. Their road to recovery will be long, both physically and financially.

On Wednesday, February 25, from 4:00–8:30 PM, we will be hosting a dine-in fundraiser at Original Italian Pizza. 10% of all dine-in sales during that time will go directly to Carl and Sherry to help with medical, travel, and lodging expenses.
