- **Event Description**: Milford Public Library celebrates April (National Poetry Month) with a poetry reading and open mic on April 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 upstairs at the Milford Public Library. The two featured poets will read from their most recent collections followed by a short open mic to close out the hour. Community members can sign up at the event to share one poem they've written (or a favorite poem) in our family friendly environment to close out the hour. 

Friends of the Milford Public Library will provide some light refreshments for all to enjoy.
Authors' books will be available for purchase at the event. 

Britt Kaufmann grew up in New Paris and has recently moved back to the area from North Carolina. Her first full length collection of poetry Midlife Calculus is based on the year she decided to learn calculus for the first time--at age 47. Recently the collection has garnered attention winning the 2025 McMath Award for Poetry and the NAIWE Poetry Book Award. Her work has appeared in J Journal: New Writing on Justice, Anabaptist Review, Scientific American, Redheaded Stepchild, and Hog River Press among others. She enjoys volunteering at the Milford Public Library, gardening, and reading science fiction. 

Jenna Wysong Filbrun is a resident of New Paris. Running Toward Water (Shanti Arts, 2026) is her second full-length collection of poetry.  Her poems have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net and have appeared in a variety of literary magazines and journals including Blue Heron Review, Deep Wild, The Dewdrop, ONE ART, and others.  She practices poetry to deepen her awareness of connection and enjoys spending time at home and in the wild with her husband, Mike, and their dogs, Oliver and Lewis.
