The Oak Grove Cemetery Fund of Milford invites you to take part in a unique, hands-on opportunity to care for one of our community’s most meaningful historic spaces.

On July 18, 2026, at 9:00, join us at Oak Grove Cemetery for a Cemetery Preservation Workshop led by Dr. Thomas Henthorn and students from the University of Michigan–Flint. Participants will learn proper, preservation-minded techniques for documenting and cleaning historic gravestones using methods that protect these fragile and irreplaceable markers.

This workshop is designed for anyone interested in local history, preservation, or community stewardship. No prior experience is necessary. Just a willingness to learn and take part.

Dr. Henthorn serves as the Wyatt Endowed Professor of Public History and directs the Preservation Studies Minor at the University of Michigan–Flint. Through partnerships like this one, he and his students work with communities across Michigan to support the long-term care of historic cemeteries.

Fee:  the workshop is free, but space is limited

Please note: There is no onsite seating. Participants are welcome to bring a portable chair.
