About Staged Readings: Bridging Page and Production
The staged reading serves as an essential bridge in the evolution of a work from page to production. Audience feedback during this process provides the playwright with unique insights, gathered from the collective perspective of those experiencing the work firsthand. This input is invaluable, as it allows the author to understand how their creation resonates with others and what adjustments may be necessary.
About the play:
Ray Bruno has spent years carrying the weight of a murder that happened one night at Hershey Park. Now, as he reunites with his brother and sisters to say goodbye to their dying mother, old wounds reopen and long‑guarded truths slip out.
About the playwright:
A native New Yorker, Robert Brancatelli is the author of Nine Lives (2015), Laura Fedora (2014), and The Gringo (2011) with Blumen Publishing. He has written scholarly articles in Religious Studies and Business Ethics and taught graduate and undergraduate students for more than twenty years.
Following Isabel Allende’s advice, Brancatelli has planted a tree, written a novel, and fathered a child. In fact, he’s done all three multiple times. He also drove a taxi in New York City and appeared onstage as “Bobby Bronco” at the Gotham Comedy Club at West 23rd Street in Manhattan without getting heckled. Well, except for a student who showed up.
He survives on French roast coffee, raisins, cheese, and gin. He currently lives in the Bay Area and is represented by Paula Munier of the Talcott Notch Literary Agency.
