### 🦙 Getting Started in Alpacas

**Saturday, August 29 | 1:00–4:00 PM**
📍 **Zodiac Ranch**

This hands-on seminar is designed for anyone considering alpacas, whether you're dreaming of a small fiber herd, starting a farm, or simply want to learn more before making the investment.

We'll cover:

🌱 **Hour 1 — Getting Started**
Housing, fencing, pasture, nutrition, daily care, basic health care, choosing your first alpacas, farm layout and infrastructure, and the financial side of alpaca ownership.

🧶 **Hour 2 — It's All About the Fiber!**
Learn what you can do with alpaca fiber—from washing and carding to felting, spinning, knitting and creating products.

🦙 **Hour 3 — Hands-On Alpaca Care**
Learn how to safely catch, halter and handle an alpaca, basic grooming and medications, and how to work with and train a young alpaca. Plus, you'll get hands-on time with the animals!

Linda & Roy have been breeding alpacas since **2003** and currently manage **60–80 alpacas** at Zodiac Ranch. We've mentored many new alpaca owners over the years, and this year Zodiac Ranch was recognized as the **10th highest-ranking medium-size farm in the National Alpaca Show System.**

We're excited to share what we've learned with the next generation of alpaca owners!
