Grazie ad una padronanza magistrale del suo strumento riesce ad avere un controllo pressoché perfetto di ogni sfumatura di suono. Musicista con un’anima ed una sensibilità straordinarie, riesce a rendere le sue esecuzioni trascinanti, istintive e nel contempo curatissime ed impeccabili.

Figlio del famoso sassofonista Dewey Redman, a soli 10 anni imbraccia il sax tenore. Nel 1991 partecipa al Thelonius Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition, vince la competizione e da allora comincia a registrare con Elvin Jones, Charlie Haden, Jack DeJohnette, Pat Metheny, Roy Hargrove, the Mingus Dynasty and Big Band, Red Rodney, Paul Motian.

Dopo il successo di MoodSwing nel 2022, e di Where Are We (2024) torna con un nuovo album, il secondo per la Blue Note Records: Words Fall Short affiancato da 3 giovani musicisti che vantano già collaborazioni illustri e riconoscimenti entusiasti da parte della critica.
