1. Erupting with Excitement: All Abilities STEAM Experiment (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
Ignite your inner scientist! This hands-on activity will guide participants through the principles of an acid-base chemical reaction, providing step-by-step instructions to create a spectacular volcano eruption.
* Scientific Skills: Develop a foundational understanding of chemistry concepts and the scientific method.
* Confidence Building: Experience the excitement of bringing science to life, fostering curiosity and a belief in one's ability to learn complex topics.
* Real-Life Connection: The concept of acid-base reactions is essential in everyday cooking (like baking with baking soda and vinegar) and in medicine (like using antacids to neutralize stomach acid).
2. All Abilities- Thanksgiving Bingo (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
Celebrate the season with a twist on a classic! Instead of numbers, we'll use Thanksgiving-themed words to reinforce learning in a fun, social, and engaging way.
* Literacy & Vocabulary: Strengthen word recognition and build a holiday-specific vocabulary.
* Social & Emotional Skills: Practice taking turns, following rules, and using communication skills to make new friends and connect with others.
* Real-Life Connection: Recognizing patterns, a key skill in Bingo, is directly applicable to reading music or following step-by-step instructions (like an assembly manual or a recipe), enhancing overall cognitive flexibility.
