The theatre has been the venue for various events through the years; including community theatre groups, orchestra performances, battling bands, dance exhibitions, weekly movies, and talent shows. In 1989, the Everett made it's jump onto the silverscreen as the location for the school production of \"A Midsummer's Night Dream\" in the film \"The Dead Poets Society.\"\n\nThe theatre, originally called the Masonic Hall and Opera House, first opened it's doors in 1863. It served and prospered as a center for the arts and as a town meeting place until succumbing to a great fire in 1918. A new building was quickly reconstructed and was devoted to the new motion picture phenomenon. Unfortunately, this new building went down in flames only three years later.\n\nThe current structure was built in 1922 and consists of mainly terra cotta blocks and plaster, rather than wood, in hopes to avoid another devastating fire.
