The annual 35mm screening of Frank Capra’s It’s A Wonderful Life has become a cherished holiday tradition at The Everett Theatre for both our volunteers and our patrons. There’s nothing quite like experiencing this timeless classic the way it was originally meant to be seen — projected on film, in a historic theatre, surrounded by community.

While It’s A Wonderful Life is now regarded as one of the greatest holiday films of all time, its legacy wasn’t always assured. Despite earning five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, the film initially received mixed reviews and struggled at the box office. Its failure to meet its break-even point led some studios to question Capra’s commercial viability.

In 1974, the film’s copyright was allowed to lapse, placing it in the public domain. As television stations began airing it widely during the holidays, It’s A Wonderful Life found a second life — ultimately becoming the beloved Christmas classic we know today.

Doors will open at 6:30 PM to allow parties the opportunity to sit together on both the main floor and balcony. Please plan accordingly.

♿ Accessibility & Facilities

Wheelchair accessible seating is available in the back left and right corners of the theatre, with additional chairs available for members of the party.

Second-floor restrooms are located inside the historic theatre.

First-floor restrooms are located next door in our visual art center, The Gibby.

Volunteers will be on site to assist guests.
