🌲 Celebrate the 6th Annual Grandma Gatewood Legacy Hike! 🌲
Join the fun and support Prime Time for Women’s annual fundraiser as we honor the remarkable legacy of Emma "Grandma" Gatewood—the first woman to solo thru-hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine…at age 67! 💪
She wasn’t limited by the perceptions of others. Instead, Grandma Gatewood embraced challenges as adventures and pursued possibilities rather than probabilities. She lived life to the fullest—and to this day, she continues to inspire us to do the same!
🍂 This intergenerational event is perfect for anyone moved by Gatewood’s story (and really—who wouldn’t be?). So gather your friends, neighbors, adult children, and grandchildren to connect, walk, talk, and enjoy the beauty of autumn together along the majestic Appalachian Trail.
🎥 Bonus Experience: After the hike, head to Il Forno in Boonsboro, MD for a FREE showing of “Trail Magic: The Grandma Gatewood Story”, the inspiring documentary about the woman who saved the Appalachian Trail.
👟 Choose Your Hike: Gentle, Intermediate, or even Virtual—there’s something for everyone!
📍 In-person hikers will meet at Washington Monument State Park parking lot at 10:00 AM to sign waivers and pick up pre-ordered commemorative shirts. Hikes begin at 10:30 AM with breathtaking views from the Washington Monument overlook—an unforgettable way to celebrate Grandma Gatewood’s incredible legacy.
