Teeside University Law Society is honoured to announce that Claire Throssell MBE will join us on 28 January 2026 to deliver a Guest Lecture.
Claire is a nationally recognised campaigner whose advocacy, following the deaths of her sons Paul and Jack, played a significant role in shaping reforms to domestic abuse policy and family court practice in England and Wales.
Her work has brought sustained attention to systemic safeguarding failures and has informed legislative and procedural change across multiple institutions. Through public engagement and policy work, she has demonstrated how lived experience can operate as a powerful driver of legal reform.
This free event is open to students, staff, and members of the wider community. Claire will reflect on her journey and discuss the relationship between personal testimony, law, and institutional accountability.
