On February 17, join us at the Middleburg Community Center for the release of our newest publication from Rizzoli Books, The Enchanting Interiors of Bunny Mellon: Paintings by Snowy Campbell.

The morning will offer a closer look at Mrs. Mellon’s legendary interiors, featuring luminous watercolor paintings by Snowy Campbell that Mrs. Mellon commissioned in the 1970s. The program will feature a conversation with Oak Spring Garden Foundation President Sir Peter Crane, alongside acclaimed interior designer Charlotte Moss, who also penned the book’s foreword. Together, they will explore the story behind these intimate paintings and the creative relationship that brought Bunny Mellon and Snowy Campbell together.

A reception begins at 10:30am, followed by the presentation and conversation highlighting select works from the book, and concluding with a Q&A. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.

About The Enchanting Interiors of Bunny Mellon: Paintings by Snowy Campbell:

The refined rooms of American philanthropist and aesthete Bunny Mellon (1910–2014) were celebrated for their rare ability to unite exceptional collections of fine and decorative art with an atmosphere of comfort and ease. These interiors—icons of taste and connoisseurship—were sensitively documented by Snowy Campbell, creating a lasting tribute to Bunny Mellon’s distinctive vision.

Originally conceived by Mrs. Mellon herself but never realized in her lifetime, this book brings together Campbell’s paintings for the first time. The works capture the light, color, and mood of interiors and gardens, as well as the intricate patterns and details of furnishings shaped in collaboration with renowned decorators including John Fowler and Bruce Budd. Three residences—New York City, Washington, DC, and Upperville, Virginia—are featured, with accompanying texts by James Reginato that explore Mellon’s decorating style and the ways she and her husband, Paul Mellon, lived within these spaces.
